The Faculty of Pedagogy was one of the first four units of Can Tho University (now Can Tho University), which was established on March 31, 1966. After 1975, the Faculty of Pedagogy was split into a Faculty. It is Nature and the Department of Social Education with the mission of training high school teachers. After that, these two faculties continued to split into 5 Faculties: Math – Li (1980), Chemistry – Sinh (1980), Su – Dia (1982), Ngu Van (1983) and Foreign Language (1983). 30 years later, in 1996, the Faculty of Education was re-established on the basis of the Faculties. In July 2009, Can Tho University established the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, some teachers of the Pedagogical Department were transferred to new units. In March 2015, Can Tho University established the Faculty of Foreign Languages, 02 Department of English Education and French Pedagogy were transferred to this unit. When establishing the Faculty of Natural Sciences (1996) and the Department of Pre-Ethnicity (2007), the main resources were also transferred from the Faculty of Education.nnDuring the period from 2000 to now, the Faculty of Education has received a certificate of merit from the Minister of Education and Training of the years 2002, 2006, 2012, 2015, 2017; Certificate of Merit for the Ministry of Education and Training in 2013 for achieving outstanding achievements in the implementation of the High School and High School Teacher Development Project in the 2007-2013 period; Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology Associations for their outstanding achievements in organizing the 8th National Student Chemistry Olympiad Contest in 2014.nnThe total number of officials and employees of the Faculty is now 122, including 08 Associate Professors, 36 Ph.D., 63 Masters in total of 107 lecturers. Currently, there are 22 lecturers studying at the doctoral level and 01 lecturer who is studying after the doctoral degree.
